Item #41: On Saturday, H tried mint, rounding out our item on trying foods we think we don't like.
Item #14: And yesterday, we stopped at roadside vendor & bought stuff ... yummy yummy stuff!
Soon, we hope to see a sunset from a mountain top (Item #96) ...and if SUPER lucky (not likely), see the Northern Lights (Item #48)!

Item #40: We've got to get more rice! I just played for 980 more, to round out our current total to 61000. We have a long way to go!
Item #89: I forgot to mention in the previous post that H talked to the music trio he enjoyed at the farmers' market & got some leads on some places that might teach banjo!
In October, we are setting our sights on #24 (clean our gutters) and #83 (make a crockpot meal once a week for a month).

Item #41: H has now tried broccoli, which he pronounced tolerable, and this makes 9/10 foods he's supposed to try. One more & we'll be done with this item!
Item #51: Sadly, on Friday, H's hard work didn't show up on the scale. I am certain it's a temporary condition and am behind him 100%!
Item #81: Although we spent last night at a hotel, I did not abscond with any travel sized soaps or shampoo. *grin*
Item #86: H was reluctant to go to the Farmers' Market this weekend, but when a parking space opened right where he was going to wait for me, he really didn't have much of an excuse. We purchased peaches, apples, kettle corn & cookies, all to take down to my parents for the weekend. But the best part? The live music!

Item #29: We are on our last day of a month with no fast food! I am confident we'll make it through the remainder of the day, so I'll just go ahead and check this one off. We have decided to make this a regular challenge for us -- so our plan is that starting tomorrow, we can have fast food, if we want. Once we have fast food, the clock resets & we have to wait another month ... or more, if we feel like it ... and we'll just keep repeating it!
Item #41: I'm waiting for H to try his next 3 foods, and then we'll be done with this one, too. *grin* Comically, I tried 2 more on Tuesday -- parsnips and cauliflower. They were minced & melded into a cold salad, and they were pretty tasty, but I don't know if I'd rush out and have more of it tomorrow.
edit: I forgot to give H credit for the lima beans he tried last week. He only has 2 more foods to try. And he's trying to weasel out of it.
Item #51: According to the gym scale, I'm down 5 pounds ... according to the one at home, I've lost 2. Either way, it's the right direction. H weighs in tomorrow ... and I fully expect that he will have lost some weight, too!
Item #79: I made chocolate chip cookies & sent them with H to take into work, for no reason, yesterday. It turned out that they were dealing with some massive, unexpected issues ... so the cookies were much appreciated!!!
Item #81: I used up one of the refill bottles for handsoap & pitched it in the recycling. Slowly our stash is shrinking. Soon, we'll be completely out of travel-size shampoo (okay, I'm saving a couple of bottles for houseguests), and we'll have to start buying it at the store!

Item #80: I forgot to mention that I gifted Bethany with 2 bars of my handmade soap. *grin* We're nowhere near "running low" on soaps ... but I will be making more in another month or so, to make for handmade gifts. Speak up if you want some soap! LOL. 'Cept for Kim, you l'il minx! I saw those 2 unused bars in your bathroom yesterday. Use 'em! I'll make more!!!

Kim & I met up with Bethany this morning, braving the persistent rain and the long wait to brunch at "Toast 2", in Bucktown! I loved our conversation & instant connection -- as Bethany said, you wind up knowing an awful lot about a person by reading their blog!!! I'm so glad we connected through this 101 Things process & I look forward to staying in touch with her!

Item #33: Today it's been pouring rain (enough that we may have actually gotten Item #22 done inadvertently, to powerwash the house! *wink*) , so we had a wonderful indoor project, to make cinnamon rolls from scratch. They smelled wonderful while cooking & I think we were both very satisfied with how they turned out. I think next time I'll let them rise a bit longer, both in the bowl & in the pan ... they were a little tough, but not bad at all, considering I hadn't made them in about 10 years & H has never made them! And it's not on our list, but it's related to it ... tomorrow Kim and I are planning on meeting up with a fellow 101 list blogger from afar, while she's visiting Chicago! It should be fun!

Item #29: We're on Day #26 of life without fast food. For the first time in ages, I had another temptation today, but I fought it off easily. We are so close to the end of our month, I didn't want to blow it!
Item #33: I have all the ingredients to make cinnamon rolls ... maybe we'll be able to make them this weekend!
Item #51: The scale at the gym says that H's lost 4 pounds & so have I! I don't believe my readings, though, because my first weigh-in was post-breakfast, post-2-waters, and post-workout, so I don't know how reliable the reading was. Still, if my home scale's anything to go by, I think I've lost 1-2 pounds, which is good.
Item #74: Money is tight (just an ebb-and-flow thing with my job), and it is awfully tempting to put something on a credit card and "just pay it off later," but we are sticking by our plan to not put anything on a credit card except travel expenses & emergencies ... like the string of vet visits we just dealt with!
Item #81: I am doing my damndest to use up this soap/body care stuff, and it just seems never ending. The shampoo is almost all gone ... what we have surfeit of is body wash (neither one of us seems to be a huge fan of this stuff!) & lotion. And bars of soap, thanks to Item #80. I have to say, I will be stunned if we actually accomplish this item at the end of 1001 days.
Item #90: In keeping with #81, I thought about creating an item for our next list (yes, I am thinking that far ahead) to use up all of our tea before buying more, because we seem to have so much of it, but I've been making a serious effort to make iced tea for H, and also to make us both a cup of hot tea a couple times a week, and our tea supply is starting to dwindle. I am looking forward to polishing off a couple more tins & then maybe this item will surface.
Item #95: It's far off in the future ... supposedly, but I am already thinking about our holiday shopping & what I want to buy/make people. We're sticking to a plan to spend no more than $50 on each other and $20 on each friend or family member for whom we choose to buy gifts!

Item #29: Day 20 of life with no fast food. We were very close to caving today ... okay, and Friday, too, but we staved it off. *grin* Only 11 days left!
Item #75: We made our "September" visit to the Arboretum, this time with H's parents. It was a gorgeous pre-fall day, or as my dad-in-law put it "A San Francisco day"... cool, sunny, breezy! We got so many great pictures, it was a struggle to narrow it down to just 3, but here are the 3 we feel are most representative of our afternoon!

Item #29: Day 16 of no fast food & we're going strong!
Item #51: I signed up for a class at the gym to help me with some of the 15 pounds I want to lose & H may sign up for it as well. Wish us luck!!
Item #64: Although I consider this item officially "done", I still wanted to share with you one of the zinnias that I grew from seed! Cool, yes?!
Item #99: We just tried Boudin SF, and pronounced it good, inexpensive, and close-to-home!!
